Obituary:
Laura Julia Galiano was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven March 8, 2018 at the age of 76 years. Laura was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico March 24, 1941. At the age of 13, she moved with her family to Brooklyn, New York graduating from Bay Ridge High School. She married the love of her life Angel Galiano in 1960. They lived many years in Brooklyn having six children. Laura was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn serving in the Marriage Encounter group. Laura returned with her family to Arecibo in 1980 reuniting with the loved ones from her youth. There she taught Catechism and was involved in the development of The Stations of the Cross at Iglesia Santa Terecita Hato Abajo. The Galiano family moved to Florida in 1988 and Laura became an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Hollywood. There she established The Spanish Mass and Spanish programs enjoyed today by hundreds of parishioners.
Laura was a devoted Christian. She lived her maxim “God and family first”. As a wife, a mother, a sister, a grandparent, an aunt, a friend, her life was an example to all. Laura loved life and lived each day with purpose. She saw the love, hope, and potential in every individual.
She was always there for those in need. She cheered achievements small and large. Her love was all inclusive. Her legacy lives.
From Proverbs 31:
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Laura was predeceased by her parents Aurelio and Julia Alfonso. She will be fondly remembered by her loving husband of 57 years Angel; children Maria Celeste (Benjamin) Valentin, Geraldine (Michael) Janzen, Marco Antonio (Elizabeth) Galiano, Rebeca (Murray) Bryntesen, Laura Elisa (David F.) Appleton and Angela Galiano; sisters Maria Plascencia, Hilda Correa, Carmen Torres, Pilar Torres and Aurelia Garcia; grandchildren Cristel, Vincent, Isabelle, Marc Andrew, Logan, Natalia, Jacob, Nadia, Sarah, Ella and Michelle; and great grandchildren Valencia and Lucas.
